Former Manchester United midfielder, Owen Hargreaves, has revealed what actually hurts Cristiano Ronaldo the most after Portugal crashed out to Morocco in the quarterfinal of the Qatar 2022 World Cup on Saturday.

Morocco became the first African nation in history to progress to the semi-final stage of the World Cup

Youssef En-Nesyri’s powerful header was all the North Africans needed to go through to the semifinal and sent the Selecao crashing out of the competition.
This was very likely Ronaldo’s last ever World Cup game, and the 37-year-old ended it in flood of tears as he hurried down the tunnel after full-time.

And Hargreaves believes that what hurts the Portugal captain the most was that Lionel has progressed to the semi-finals and still has the opportunity to win the trophy which would end the debate on who is the greatest of all time between them.

“In Argentina Diego Maradona is seen as the greatest because he won the World Cup then if Messi goes ahead to carry the World Cup after winning the Cuppa America then you have a conversation [on who’s the greatest ever],” Hargreaves said on SuperSport.

He’ll be right there with the greatest and I think this probably would hurt Ronaldo the most . Him and Messi have that thing…head to head in the Champions League and Ballon d’Or then when your great rival takes that step ahead of you and Messi is playing every game and Ronaldo isn’t that hurts the most. But I think both of them are the greatest of all time.”
