Barely two weeks after the inauguration of an ultra-modern police station in the Madi area of Ilorin, Kwara state capital,  policemen attached to the  new facility had since justified  this anti-crime effort by foiling  a plot to rob members of a social club during their meeting.

It will be recalled that Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq and the Inspector General of Police, Alhaji Alkali Usman  had jointly inaugurated  the new police station in Madi , Oke-Fomo area of Ilorin to provide necessary support infrastructure that will enhance and ensure effective policing in the state.

Kwara state police commissioner, Mr Paul Odama  during the press conference he presided over at the state police headquarters, Ilorin on Friday disclosed that policemen attached to the new station on Tuesday, December  6 2022 at about 1400hrs ,while on surveillance patrol of the area stopped Abubakar Jimoh ‘m’ (aka Abu Carrot) and Murtador Olamilekan ‘m’ on Madi Road, Gaa-Saka area Ilorin,  and one locally- made Revolver Pistol was found in their possession.

 

‘Upon interrogation, the suspects confessed freely that they were on a mission to  rob members of the Ifesowapo Social Club at their meeting that was being held on Madi Road.

Investigation further revealed that the first suspect; Abubakar Jimoh ‘m a.k.a Abu Carrot has been on the wanted list of the Command after shooting  a 12 -year- old boy  dead and getting  his pregnant mother seriously injured in Adewole Area, Ilorin  about ten years ago’ he said.

Odama submitted that the suspects will soon  face charges.

The police  chief added that three people; Adeniyi Olalekan ‘M’ of Ogidi area Ilorin, Abdulraheem Nasiru ‘m and Ugwu Friday ‘m’ have also been arrested in connection with car theft and burglary incidents.

‘Acting on an actionable intelligence by policemen attached to  the State CID, one Adeniyi Olalekan ‘m’ of Ogidi area,  Ilorin and Abdulraheem Nasiru ‘m’  were arrested, the two suspects are notorious burglars,  who also steal property of innocent citizens.

Under interrogation, the suspects confessed to being responsible for a series of  burglary incidents and theft of electronics, vehicles, motorcycles and other items within Ilorin and Ogbomosho both in Kwara and Oyo states respectively.

Further investigation led to the recovery of the following exhibits.

1. Three (3) Toyota Sienna Buses

2. One (1) Toyota Corolla

3. Four (4) Motorcycles

4. One (1) Plasma Television

5. Three (3) Generating sets

6. Seven (7) Bags containing telephone accessories

7. Five (5) bags of Semovita and house breaking tools (one iron cutter and one iron rod.

Their receiver ,who also issued them receipts  for the stolen properties, Friday Ugwu ‘m’ of Apata Area, Eiyenkorin village, Ilorin was also arrested. The suspects would be taken to Court’ he added.
