Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun state on Wednesday described allegations promoted on social media that he withdrew five billion naira from the bank accounts of the state government as untrue and unfounded.
His spokesman, Mallam Rasheed Olawale in a statement made available to Team@orientactualmags.com on Wednesday not only denied the allegations but also pointed the finger at the former ruling party in the state; APC.
‘We want to publicly deny a malicious rumour and an unfounded allegation secretly being peddled on social media by men of yesterday that Governor Ademola Adeleke withdrew Five Billion Naira from the bank accounts belonging to the state. This is a lie from demented minds.
The public will recall that Governor Adeleke had in his inaugural speech announced the freezing of all the bank accounts belonging to the state and the local governments. That was done right at the venue of inauguration before he had any access to government’s records and finances. How can such an amount be withdrawn from State account on the day of inauguration when the new leader had no access to such bank accounts ?
We appeal to members of the public to ignore the rumour and consider it as a product of deranged individuals who are still in pain because of their loss of power. His Excellency, Governor Adeleke is on seat to serve the people and he is not interested in self-enrichment as was the mantra of yesterday’s leadership’ the statement said.
