A Federal High Court sitting in Ilorin, Kwara State has declared Oluwasegun Adebayo, a son of ex-Kwara governor Cornelius Adebayo as the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for the for Isin/Oke-Ero/Ekiti/Irepodun Federal constituency in the 2023 National Assembly election.
The court, therefore, invalidated the primary election that produced Hon Raheem Olawuyi, a member of the House of Representatives as the APC candidate of the consistency.
According to reports, Adebayo in a suit filed before the Court said Hon Olawuyi had sought to get the Kwara South APC senatorial ticket and participated in the primary election that eventually produced Senator Lola Ashiru as candidate.
In his judgment on Wednesday, November 2, 2022, Justice Mohammed Sani declared Oluwasegun Adebayo as the winner of the election.
Justice Sabi thus affirmed Adebayo, an engineer as the APC candidate for the 2023 election in the Isin/Oke-Ero/Ekiti/Irepodun Federal Constituency of the House of Representatives.
Reacting to the court judgment, Adebayo described his victory as a ‘good news’.’ He noted that it was a victory for all.
He urged APC members in the State to come together and work for the victory of all candidates of the party in the 2023 general elections.
Calling the APC in the state “one big family”, Adebayo said that “it is time for fence-mending and reconciliation.
“All I can say is to thank God Almighty, who always keep His words and stands in support of His people. It is a victory for all. I want to beg all party members to note that we are one big family.
“The next course of action is fence-mending and reconciliation, because we are one big family. We must ensure all our party candidates earn victory in the 2023 general election. I urge all our party members to please make this a priority,” he said.
Also, a Federal High Court in Kaduna, on Wednesday, nullified the People’s Democratic Party primary election for Kaduna Central Senatorial District and ordered a fresh poll in 14 days.
Lawal Adamu, also known as “Mr LA” was declared the winner of the primary election and his name was announced by the Independent National Electoral Commission as the party’s Kaduna Central senatorial district candidate for the 2023 election. However, his main challenger, Usman Ibrahim, dragged him before the court.
