President Muhammadu Buhari has expressed his disappointment in the intelligence system of the country following the terrorists attack on Kuje prison in Abuja.

Recall, it was earlier reported that terrorists confirmed to be Boko Haram sects attacked the centre and freed over 600 inmates including 64 of their members held in the custody during the attack.

The president on Wednesday, July 6, 2022, who made a surprising stop over at the correctional centre, for an on-the-spot assessment of the level of damage done to the facility by invading terrorists questioned that ‘how can terrorists organize, have weapons, attack a security installation and get away with?’

The president’s statement reads; “Saddened by the attack on the Medium Security Custodial Centre, Kuje. I am disappointed with the intelligence system.

How can terrorists organize, have weapons, attack a security installation and get away with it? I am expecting a comprehensive report on this shocking incident,” he said

It was gathered that the president made the visit on his way to the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, en route to Dakar, Senegal, for a scheduled International Development Association (IDA) for Africa Summit.

There had been public outcry over the decision of the President to go ahead with the Dakar trip after the terrorist attack on the correctional center and another one involving his advance team to Daura, around Dutsinma, Katsina State, also on Tuesday evening.
