One of the gubernatorial aspirants of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Osun state, Dotun Babayemi has emerged as the factional candidate of the party after a governorship election held at WOCDIF in Osogbo, the state capital, Pulsenews reports.
Babayemi was declared winner after he polled 1,781 votes.

Having been adopted by stakeholders of the party on Monday as the preferred aspirant, Babayemi was formally elected as the PDP governorship candidate at the party’s primary held on Tuesday at WOCDIF, Osogbo.
According to the Gbongan-born politician, his emergence and eventual election in July as the governor of the state would herald a new glorious dawn for the state and its people.
“I see my emergence today as a great challenge,a clarion call to a divine assignment to bring to bear, the vision of our founding fathers. This, I promise, shall be pursued with every fiber of our being. This is because Osun which is our common heritage, has suffered enough degradation in the hands of interlopers” he asserted

He promised that grudges engendered by various factors within the party would be resolved, assuring, “We shall embark on genuine reconciliation by ensuring that every member of the party is carried along”
While thanking party leaders, stakeholders and members across the state for massively supporting his candidacy, Babayemi commended other aspirants who withdrew to support his emergence.
“I promise you that this is a race we shall run together. You are men of proven mettle and integrity whose wealth of experience would always be needed for an all-round development of our dear state”
While calling on members of the party across the state to always be law-abiding by maintaining peace,he charged them to embark on house-to-house campaign so as to help sell PDP to the people of the state with a view to ingraining it in their minds.
“July is close by. Let’s make maximum use of the opportunity we have now and victory shall be ours. Our people have suffered enough; their liberation time has come” he assured.
